Concept

The Objet Trouvé of this installation asks us whether the inevitable can enclose the sublime, whether it is possible to give poetic form to the continuous cycle of restyling our common places. The heterogeneous bands, ironically and realistically, reconstruct the image of a multiplicity of domesticities. The sofa is a patchwork of 60 cm wide recycled fragments. The sofa is the disposable object, open to accommodate any activity: eating, sleeping, reading, watching tv, playing. It is the symbol of the decreasing specificity of the contemporary habitat, a space made of other qualities, so lacking in identity as to be unmemorable.

Gli objet trouvé di questa installazione ci domandano se l’inevitabile possa contenere il sublime. Se sia possibile, cioè, portare a forma poetica il ciclo di continuo restyling di quegli spazi abitativi generici, non progettati, che presto saranno di nuovo obsoleti. Le fasce eterogenee ricostituiscono ironicamente quanto realisticamente l’immagine di tante domesticità e di un solo luogo comune. Il divano è un patchwork di pezzi riciclati del modulo costante di 60 cm. E’ l’Oggetto Disponibile ad accogliere ogni attività: mangiare, dormire, leggere, guardare, giocare: simbolo dell’abbassamento di specializzazione funzionale dell’habitat. E’ l’icona della genericità dello spazio domestico d’oggi, fatto di qualità altre, tanto privo di specificità da non essere memorizzabile.
