Concept

Dimension: 5 independent lofts buildings; total covered space, 800 sqm + exterior spaces, 200 sqm.

Program: a small contemporary arts centre , with a showroom for fashion shows, conventions, exhibitions, and workshops  for video-sound production  and  research; plus offices,  bookshop and cafeteria.

Project: to foster  events by combining  old and new, development and production, artists and public. The courtyard is redefined to open to the network of urban paths.  New activities inside and outside the existing volumes, recovered as independent functional units. The exterior space becomes an in-between space: it is a Wi-Fi open area and can be occupied by the cafeteria’s tables during the daytime. These exterior connections are conceived of as a continuous stage. The flexible, indeterminate organization of this small exterior, or urban interior, expresses an articulated form that meets the centre’s need for continuous changes to its structural features. The exhibition area, made of rails and movable panels, serves as the the matrix for the various possible  arrangements of the space.

Dimensioni: 5 padiglioni indipendenti; spazi coperti tot. 800 mq, spazi aperti 200 mq.

Programma: centro di arte contemporanea con sala per spettacoli, showroom/sfilate, convegni ed esposizioni, laboratori di ricerca e produzione immagine e suono, uffici, bookshop, caffetteria.

Progetto: favorire l’evento attraverso la combinazione di vecchio e nuovo, sviluppo e produzione, artisti e pubblico. Apertura del cortile alla rete dei percorsi urbani. Nuove attività dentro e fuori i volumi esistenti, recuperati come unità funzionali autonome. Si carica di senso lo spazio esterno in-between, utilizzabile anche dalla caffetteria come area allestibile, servita da connessione WiFi. L’esterno è inteso come interno, come palcoscenico continuo. L’allestimento flessibile di questo piccolo esterno, o interno urbano esprime una forma articolata dal carattere definito ma capace di assorbire i cambiamenti d’uso come condizione strutturale: è la matrice delle possibilità di allestimento totale del sistema.
